Daniel Monzón - Exclusive Interview - Cell 211

Premiere Scene’s Claire & Anthony Bueno were happy to have a 10 minute lock down with the truly, truly delightful writer/director Daniel Monzón as he promotes his multi award winning film Cell 211.  So much more than a prison drama, Daniel has created a tense, superbly written narrative whose rich characters have been wonderfully crafted, through the intensity,  humour weaves through giving a real balance. The performances are outstanding from all the cast but in particular new comer Alberto Ammann and seasoned pro Luis Tosar really do stand out. Perfecto; this film is a work of art!

Cell 211 is released in UK Cinemas 15th July 2011

Count Down To Zero - Gala Screening

Premiere Scene welcomes Thomas Magill as he accompanies Mike Jonas for Gala Screening of Count Down To Zero. Join us as we interview anti-nuclear weapons activists and Global Zero Movement leaders Her Majesty Queen Noor, ex-CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson, Oscar-winning producer Lawrence Bender and Labour MP Margaret Beckett.

COUNTDOWN TO ZERO traces the history of the atomic bomb from its origins to the present state of global affairs: nine nations possessing nuclear weapons capabilities with others racing to join them, with the world held in a delicate balance that could be shattered by an act of terrorism, failed diplomacy, or a simple accident. Written and directed by acclaimed British filmmaker and Academy Award® nominee Lucy Walker, the film features an array of important international statesmen, including former world leaders Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Pervez Musharraf and Tony Blair. It makes a compelling case for worldwide nuclear disarmament, an issue more topical than ever with the Obama administration working to revive this goal today.

COUNTDOWN TO ZERO is the first documentary since An Inconvenient Truth to be invited to screen in Official Selection at both Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals. The film was produced by Academy Award® winner Lawrence Bender (Inglourious Basterds, An Inconvenient Truth) and developed, financed and executive produced by Participant Media, together with the World Security Institute. Jeff Skoll, Diane Weyermann, Bruce Blair and Matt Brown are the film’s Executive Producers.

COUNTDOWN TO ZERO will be released nationwide on 24 June 2011

Life In A Day - Peoples Premiere

Premiere Scene welcomes Mike Jonas as he debuts as cameraman joining Claire and Anthony Bueno at the ground breaking Peoples Premiere of Life in a Day. We grabbed a rare opportunity to speak to the films editor Joe Walker who tells us how watching 100’s of rushes let them tell the story, producer Liza Marshall shares just how tricky a film like this is to make, director Kevin MacDonald tells us how stimulating it was to make such a ground breaking film and some the stars of the show Bob Liginski, Cathy Liginski,, Hiroaki Aikawa, Okhwan Yoon, John Walkley Ann Walkley Christopher Brian Heerdt have travelled the globe tell us there unique stories.

The idea for LIFE IN A DAY was borne out of a unique partnership between Ridley Scott’s Scott Free London production company and YouTube. The film is a user-generated feature-length documentary film, shot on a single day, July 24, 2010. It began as a historic global film experiment that enlisted the You Tube community to capture a moment of their lives on camera. Worldwide YouTube users responded with over 80,000 submissions from 192 countries, totaling over 4,500 hours of footage. LIFE IN A DAY brings together the most compelling footage into a 90-minute documentary to offer a unique experience that shows, in beautiful and, at moments, harrowing honesty, what it is like to be alive on Earth today.

The event was broadcast live via satellite into over 30 Vue cinemas across the country. Following the screening, Kevin Macdonald participated in a special Q&A in which all participating cinemas were given the opportunity to send in questions via twitter, bringing this innovative event to people across the country and in keeping with how the film was created, making this very much a People’s Premiere.

LIFE IN A DAY is the first user-generated film to be exclusively distributed through the Vue cinema chain and will be in their cinemas from 17th June 2011.

Premiere Scene’s Claire and Anthony Bueno had a reel treat as we attended the UK Premiere of 5 Days of War. The cast and crew shared with us their passion for telling this story of journalists on the front line as Georgia go to battle to protect their freedom and country from Russian invasion.

Based on truth this raw and powerful film was only enhanced by wonderful performances and incredible cinematography.

Director Renny Harlin shares with us the difficulties of raising funds for a war film based on a country little known to Western audiences, Dean Cain tells us how unique war journalists are, Checco Varese, Johnathon Schaech tells us his preparation for portraying a soldier, Rade Serbedzija on what this film means to him and Andy Garcia knowledgably tells us how freedom is not negotiable.

5 DAYS OF WAR is released on DVD and BLU-RAY on 13 JUNE 2011
